Broadcasters and industry working closely together

Digital radio is more than a digital audio signal. It is modern radio
accompanied through additional services like texts, visuals or data. In
order to represent digital radio on digital radio receivers in an optimal
shape, both broadcasters and device industry are working closely together.

Within the open digital radio platform at the German Federal Ministry of
Economics (BMWi) receiver guidelines have been developed by the device
working group, that expose the common understanding of digital radio. In
these documents the requirements on current and future receiver generations
have been worked out. They coincide with the commitment of the broadcasters
to emit digital radio with its additional services in the given shape.
