Monika Piel, ARD chairwoman and DG of Cologne-based WDR is predicting a new push for radio in Germany: "In the past politics and advertising sector have often under-estimated radio, its audience and reach. They all will see a new radio entering a new future. FM radio, the web and already many digital transmitter networks have played a core role in our current strategy. They will play a much more important role in future radio."

Michael Reichert, CEO „Projektburo Digitalradio", is heading the campaign to introduce and installing Digitalradio in Germany: "I am convinced German listeners will soon fully accept this new radio format. From 1st August onwards we are aiming to offer guidance and information on e.g. which radios are available in the different regions. Digitalradio stands for value added radio. The new digital sets will maybe not change any radio listening habits but digital radio will soon show the new variety of radio for a new future."

DR is value added radio. It offers new radio programmes and new services e.g electronic programme guide, „slide shows" broadcasting pictures and „iplayer" listening. You can also direct interact with your fav-show and read added information on your radio display. Even if the first DR set generation might not be able to deliver all services it remains an important future target to reach.
