MDR Klassik
Since May 2002 MDR enriches the digital Middle-Germany radio environment with its DAB broadcast innovative classic format. MDR´s DAB pilot project can be received in Middle-Germany on band III/channel 12, in east-Saxony it is available on band III/channel 5.
MDR Klassik connects proven presenting to the new possibilities of visualising programme content e.g. text information like weather, flight schedules, current affairs as well as information from just playing songs (composer, title and artist). All readable on your receiver display!
MDR Klassik´s own-produced programme offers add up to weekly (incl. news) 81hrs. Except of the early morning programme all other programmes will be computer-generated and broadcast in an automatic on air- service, without any pesenters. To identify the station all staion Ids, Promos and teasers are automaticaly included in a rotating programme schedule.
MDR´s digital radio programme offers its listeners a balanced selection from the musical heritage of Middle-Germany as well as the international music life past and present. It is of large importance for all producers not only to produce well known and approved music from many decades but also to present newly created and current music. During selected shows, e.g. "Das Werk" (weekdays 7 to 8pm) or the Wednesday evening show "Aus dem MDR Musikarchiv" (from the music archives) classical music highlights are broadcast in full-length. You can listen to alternative formats and styles exceeding musical borders. The spectrum ranges from e.g. Bach to Orff, contemporary music like Henze, Legrand, Zimmermann and McMillan, popular sinfony, opera, operetta, piano, musical guitar music to classic-adapting entertainment pieces.
