Nationwide digital radio programme 90elf gains German Radio award

90elf, Germanys only football radio, has won Germany´s Radio award "Deutscher Radiopreis" in the "Best Innovation" category. Since 1st August 2011 the internet station has taken the air nationwide on digital radio. Justification of the jury: " If it comes to innovation one station is far ahead of all others. It impressively shows how to use digital media platforms and to spread radio over many other digital "broadcasting" channels. The jury sees this as an outstanding and positive example.It shows how radio could work in a digital broadcasting future."

With German tv presenter Barbara Schönberger presenting the award on Thursday evening at "Schuuppen 52" within the Hamburg harbour region Florian Fritsche, one of the stations two founders said: "Five years ago we started  this 'tomorrow´s radio' more or less to report and support the best game of the world. Standing in front of you today it´s just unbelievable!" He thanked the jury,  90Elf shareholder Regiocast, the German Football League as well as 90elf´s programme director Fabian von Wachsmann and his team. German football reporter legend Manni Breuckmann,  a regular host on 90elf´s football programmes received a special radio award for his football radio reporting over the last 40 years.

The "Deutsche Radiopreis", a joint radio award of Germany´s public service broadcasting network ARD  and all commercial radios in Germany to honour excellent radio broadcasting, has been presented for the second year. An independent jury has been nominated by Germany´s Grimme Institute.
